If you are anything like me, you have tons of paper lying around the house: memos, letters, junk mail, old bill statements. The list goes on and on.

You want to get rid of it all but do not feel like it's safe enough to throw it in the recycle bin. Well, you are in luck.

This Saturday, July 20th, the Broome County Division of Solid Waste Management will be hosting a paper shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all Broome County residents.

This paper shredding event will be at the SUNY Broome parking lot 1, which is just off Lt. Vanwinkle Drive. To get there, use Lt. Vanwinkle Drive, turn right onto South College Drive, bear right, then turn left into Lot 1.

And here's the cool thing - you don't even need to leave your vehicle. The box or bag or whatever you are bringing those papers in to be shredded will be removed for you by Broome County staff. Boxes are best, to make it easier for staff.

Again, the event is for Broome County residents only (sorry, no businesses), and can only be used for residential shredding. You will be allowed to bring up to (4) document boxes (15”x10”x12”) for shredding per vehicle. Broome County notes that they will return the empty box to you.
