
Remembering The Fallen: Local Events Happening This Memorial Day
Memorial Day weekend 2025 is here. Memorial Day is to honor and mourn the members of the U.S. armed forces who have died in service to their country.

Locally, there will be parades and memorial honors to attend on Sunday, May 25th, and Monday, May 26th, including:
Town of Binghamton: The annual Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Hawleyton Fire Station and proceed to the Hawleyton Cemetery. The line-up will be from 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
City of Binghamton: The City of Binghamton parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 80 on Main Street heading east onto Court Street to the courthouse downtown.
Village of Endicott: The Village of Endicott will host its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to noon along Washington Avenue.
Town of Maine - The annual parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Maine Memorial Elementary and will proceed to the Maine Cemetery.
Town of Lisle: The parade will begin on Main Street at 9:30 a.m.
Whitney Point: - The parade begins at 11 a.m. at the American Legion in Whitney Point.
Village of Johnson City: The annual Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, at the corner of Main Street and North Arch Street.
Village of Owego: The annual parade begins at 10 a.m. on Temple Street. Lineup begins at 9:30 a.m.
According to the Go Broome County website, on Sunday, May 25th, the Broome County Veterans Memorial Association will be performing Memorial Honors at the following locations:
- 8:00 a.m. - Floral Park Cemetery
- 8:25 a.m. - Spring Forest veterans section
- 8:45 a.m. - Spring Forest Cemetery at Gen. John C. Robinson's grave
- 9:05 a.m. - Glenwood Cemetery veteran’s section
- 11:10 a.m. - Vestal Hills Cemetery veteran’s section at the gravesite of Mark Payne
- 11:20 a.m. - Vestal Hills Cemetery at the gravesite of Lawrence E. Johnson
- Noon - Chenango Valley Cemetery veteran’s section - split ceremony at the gravesites of Sgt Lester Stone and Sgt. Lawrence Peters
