What Is Music For The Mission And How Does It Help Our Community?
You have probably heard Music For The Mission mentioned on our radio stations over the past few years, but do you know what they are about?
Music For The Mission has one very important mission, and that is helping the homeless and the hungry population living in the Northern, Central and Southern Tier regions of New York State.
It was co-founded by Joe Stanley from Stanley Law and Angela Moonan of Blue i Marketing in 2009 with the belief that music’s communal nature is the perfect union for local nonprofits geared towards serving the thousands of individuals who lack sufficient food or adequate shelter.

Recently, we spoke with Debbie Thorpe on WNBF Radio to discuss what Music For The Mission has meant to her and what they provide to the community. She has been the lead person for the Soup & Sandwich Saturday, which is held at the All Saints Episcopal Church on Main Street in Johnson City for the past 18 years.
To support the great service this event provides each week, Music For the Mission donated a $2000 mini-grant. Debbie and her husband, Don, also thanked the help of Broome County CHOW, and the many volunteers who help out each week, including volunteers from Binghamton University, including Corazoncitos and Newman House.
All Saints Episcopal Church is just one of several that have received Music For The Mission mini-grants over the past year, including:
