When Olivia “Livvy” Marie Hill came into the world on December 16, 2010, no one could have imagined the extraordinary impact she would leave behind in just twelve short years.

Livvy's life was filled with curiosity, talent, compassion, and a spark that lit up everyone around her. Though she passed away far too soon on August 27, 2023, Livvy’s light hasn’t dimmed. Instead, it’s become a powerful force for good through the Olivia Marie Hill Foundation Inc., lovingly known as Livvy’s Light & Legacy.

A Foundation Fueled by Livvy’s Motto

“Be yourself, anything is possible.” That’s the mantra Livvy lived by, and it’s the heart of the foundation created in her name. Livvy’s Light & Legacy empowers young people in the areas Olivia was most passionate about: education, creativity, sports, and compassion. Through scholarships, STEM programs, music enrichment, and lacrosse support, the foundation is helping kids discover their potential and go after their dreams.

Facing a Rare Condition with Courage

Olivia was diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation as a toddler, a condition in which part of the brain extends into the spinal canal. She faced this challenge head on, recovering from her first surgery in 2022 with strength and hope. A second surgery in 2023 led to unexpected complications, and after nine days on life support, she passed away. Her loss left a hole in the hearts of so many, but her light continues to guide others.

Her Final Act of Kindness

Even in her final moments, Livvy was thinking of others. As an organ donor through the Gift of Life program, she gave five people a second chance at life. Her heart beats in a young boy. Her kidneys saved both a man and a boy. Her liver now gives life to two young girls. Olivia’s giving spirit lives on in every one of them.

A Scholar, a Creator, a Leader

Livvy was about to begin seventh grade at Johnson City Middle School, where she was a high honors student with a passion for science and math. She participated in the Girls Who Code Club at Binghamton University and had a deep love for all things tech and creative.

She was also a gifted artist and writer. Her sketches, paintings, sculptures, and captivating stories were a regular feature at school. Her ability to express herself through words and images showed wisdom well beyond her years.

A Lacrosse Player with Heart

For three years, Livvy played in the Johnson City Girls Youth Lacrosse League. She brought energy, focus, and a team-first mindset to every game. While she loved the thrill of competition, what mattered most to her were the friendships and support she found on the field.

Music Was Her Language

Livvy’s love for music ran deep. She taught herself piano, wrote original songs, and always had a tune on her lips. She sang constantly, played flute in the school band, and lit up the room at summer camp talent shows with her original music. Her dream was to become a songwriter, and she was already well on her way.

A Champion of Empathy

Known for her empathy and courage, Olivia was a role model for her peers. She stood up for others, extended kindness to everyone, and never shied away from being her true self. Her teachers often honored her with the Empathy Award, a recognition of her unwavering compassion and belief in justice.

Carrying the Torch Forward

Livvy’s Light & Legacy continues the work Olivia started, supporting causes close to her heart like Chiari Malformation research, organ donation awareness, and animal welfare. The foundation offers scholarships and access to programs in STEM, music, and athletics, with a special focus on lacrosse, Olivia’s favorite sport.
