Eagle Mart Opens at Old Binghamton Fluorescent Site
A convenience store now is operating in a building on Binghamton's West Side that had been occupied for decades by a family-owned lighting store.
Eagle Mart at 229 Main Street recently opened its doors at what had been the site of Binghamton Fluorescent.
Andrew Schuman closed the business after he decided to retire in 2023. The property was acquired for $480,000 in March of last year.
The Binghamton city planning commission granted Tony Singh of Vestal permission to open a convenience store and gas station at the site.
An Esso gas station had operated at the location between 1942 and 1977.
The interior and exterior of the former Binghamton Fluorescent store have undergone a complete makeover.
The new convenience shop features aisles of food, beverages and other merchandise. The fueling station is selling Citgo branded gasoline.
The store is open from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
