The first residents may start moving into a $31 million housing project in Johnson City within the next couple of weeks.

The 72-unit apartment building is located on the site of the once-popular Philadelphia Sales Company store at 333 Grand Avenue.

Regan Development Corporation of Westchester County acquired the property for $1.1 million from the village of Johnson City two years ago. Construction began in September 2024.

Tim Browne, the project superintendent for U.W. Marx Construction Company of Troy, said the construction work on the site has been completed. He told WNBF News he was waiting for the final sign-off from the architect. He said needed approvals for the project have been granted by the village.

Homesteads on Grand Apartments will be managed by the SEPP Group of Binghamton.

Although the residential units are completed, work has not been finished on 6,200 square feet of commercial space. Although there initially discussion of using the space for a daycare facility, it's not known what uses are currently planned.

The four-story building has 27 one-bedroom units and 41 two-bedroom units. There also are four three-bedroom apartments in the complex.

There also are laundry facilities and a community room for use by residents.

SEPP Group representatives did not return calls seeking information on whether a specific move-in date has been established for the complex.
