According to the Broome County Executive's Office, this new radio system will meet the county's needs for the next 20 years, connecting the needs of the public safety agencies, DPW, and all county government agencies, along with schools and hospitals.
What was once a seven-system paging service, is now combined countywide to just one. The cost of the new radio system is approximately $35 million.
