The new year is expected to bring the launch of a new downtown Binghamton business that will feature special wines and craft beers.

Winederlust Wine Bar will be located along the Chenango River near Peacemakers Park. The site - just north of Court Street - had been home to Citrea Restaurant and Bar.

Amanda O'Neil of Binghamton expects Winederlust to open soon. Renovations have been underway over the past few months.

O'Neil considered various sites for the planned business but ultimately decided it was important for what she calls her "passion project" to be located downtown.

According to the Winederlust website, the goal will be to "create a welcoming and inclusive space for all wine enthusiasts - from novice to expert - to explore and enjoy."

The wine selection will include some of the best from New York state's Finger Lakes region.

As the name suggests, wine will be the main attraction at Winederlust. But the place will also offer a selection of craft beer and cider, as well as non-alcohol options.

O'Neil said there will be a "very curated menu" that will feature flat breads, tapas and charcuterie.

She said monthly ticketed tasting events will be offered at Windederlust. Patio seating will be available.

O'Neil is looking forward to a late-winter or early-spring opening of the wine bar.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
